Swindon Plasterer

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 August 2026

1. Who we are

Swindon Plasterer (“we”, “us”) operates the marketplace at swindonplasterer.com. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us about any privacy matter at helpme@swindonplasterer.com.

2. The data we collect

  • Homeowner quote enquiries. When you request a quote we collect your name, phone number, postcode, job type, a description of the job and an optional email address and estimated area. This lets us match your enquiry to relevant local plasterers so they can contact you directly.
  • Plasterer / business accounts. When a business claims a profile or edits it, we collect the business name, contact name, phone, email, address, opening hours, social links, website domain and, for limited companies, a Companies House number. Claim verification also uses these details.
  • Technical data. We record your IP address to rate-limit submissions and prevent abuse, and we count page views with a first-party beacon that does not identify you.
  • Information stored on your device. We store a theme preference (theme_v1) in your browser’s local storage and a temporary login token in session storage when you sign in as a business. Staff use an admin_session cookie (24-hour expiry) for the private admin area.

3. Why we use it (legal bases)

  • To answer your enquiry — legitimate interest: you asked for a quote, so we match it to relevant plasterers and let them respond.
  • To provide your account — performance of our agreement with you as a listed business (claiming, verification, profile management).
  • To run and improve the site — legitimate interest in understanding usage and keeping the marketplace secure.
  • To meet legal obligations — e.g. record-keeping and fraud prevention.

Where we rely on consent (for example, your optional email), you may withdraw it at any time.

4. Who we share it with

  • Matched plasterers. Your name, phone number, postcode and job description are shared with the businesses matched to your enquiry (your email is only shared with the business that takes on your enquiry).
  • Service providers. Cloudflare (hosting, bot protection and cookieless analytics) and Stripe (card payments — your card details are handled by Stripe and are never stored by us).

We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

5. International transfers

Cloudflare and Stripe may process data outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where they do, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses).

6. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes above and as required by law. Enquiry and business-account data is retained while it is relevant to providing the service; you can ask us to delete or anonymise your data at any time where we are not required to keep it.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access, correct or delete your personal data;
  • restrict or object to how we process it;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it.

We do not make decisions about you using solely automated means with legal or similar effects — the matching feature only suggests relevant businesses, and a person then chooses how to respond. To exercise any right, email helpme@swindonplasterer.com.

8. Cookies and local storage

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. The only cookie we set is a session cookie for our own staff admin area. See our Cookie Policy for full details of the storage we use.

9. Children

This site is a trade marketplace and is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised, and material changes will be highlighted on this page.
