Can you skim over plasterboard?
Yes — skimming straight over plasterboard is the standard finish for new walls and ceilings, giving a smooth surface ready for paint. The board joints must be taped and filled first so they do not show through.
- One 25 kg bag of multi-finish covers about 10 m².
- Tapered-edge boards give the flattest joint finish.
- A skim over board usually dries in 2–3 days.
