What is bonding plaster used for?
Bonding plaster is the undercoat used on bare brick or block before the finishing skim. It keys to the masonry and builds a flat base; one 25 kg bag covers only about 2.7 m², which is why bare-brick walls cost more to plaster.
- It needs about 24 hours to cure before the finish coat goes on.
- Never apply bonding plaster over painted or plastered surfaces.
- It is the main reason bare-brick rooms add a day to the quote.
